Ask Mark: aiGuide
Ask Mark: a safe AI assistant on your own WordPress site.
Ask Mark puts Grok on your WordPress site, so the people you serve can ask questions where they already are, under rules you set.
Who it is for?
Ask Mark is for any Business or Non-Profit run a WordPress site who want an AI assistant that speaks in their voice and stays within their limits. You don't need to be a developer. If someone looks after your website, they can install it in an afternoon.
It's not for you if you don't have a WordPress site, if you'd rather not hold your own Grok licence and API key, or if you want a ready-made assistant you never have to configure. Ask Mark works best when someone takes a little time to tell it how to behave.

How it works.
- Install the plugin. At this time we are not yet in the WordPress Store, so connect with us to add Ask Mark to your WordPress site, and then you can manage like any other Plugin.
- Add your Grok key. Enter the API key from your own Grok licence. It stays with you.
- Set the header. Write the instructions sent with every question: your tone, your limits, and how to welcome someone who's new to AI.
- Drop the widget on a page. Visitors ask their questions right there. There's no separate app to download.
What it can do.
- Answer the questions you get asked again and again. Service times, enrolment steps, what to bring, who to contact. Your header can point it to what matters for your organisation.
- Point people to the right page. Instead of digging through menus, a visitor can ask and be steered to where they need to go.
- Run a beginner AI lesson. Optional guided lessons can sit beside the chat. The demo site has an introductory course on what AI is, why it sometimes makes things up, and when not to trust an answer.
- Keep the conversation on your site. People ask on your domain, inside your own pages, rather than being sent off to another app.
What you stay in control of.
Your key. You use your own Grok licence and API key. We don't hold your key, and we don't route your visitors' conversations through our servers.
Your voice. The header you write goes with every question, so the tone, the limits, and the guidance for first-time users all come from you.
Your limits. You decide what Ask Mark should and shouldn't talk about, and you can change that whenever you like.
Your credits. Accounts and question credits are managed inside the plugin. You can hand out promo codes for free questions. On the demo site, HELLO100 gives a visitor 100 questions. You can do the same thing with your own coupon.
Safety and limits
AI is useful, and it also gets things wrong. Ask Mark is designed so the person running the site decides how careful it should be.
You write the harness, meaning the instructions every answer has to work within. On our demo site, the default is that Ask Mark gives no medical advice and doesn't present spiritual advice as authoritative. You can take the same stance or set your own.
We encourage a healthy scepticism. The optional lessons help people get comfortable with AI while learning to check what it tells them, and that habit is one of the best protections there is.

FAQ
Do I need to know how to code?
No. If you can manage a WordPress site, or have someone who does, you can set up Ask Mark.
Whose AI is it?
Ask Mark connects your site to Grok using your own licence and API key.
Do you see our visitors' conversations?
No. Questions go from your site to Grok using your key. We don't proxy the conversations or hold your key.
Questions you ask here are sent to my licensed copy of Grok so I can see the questions and answers in my account.
Can we control what it says?
Yes. Every question is sent with a header you write, which sets the tone, limits, and guidance for your site.
Can we give people free questions?
Yes. Promo codes can grant free question credits. HELLO100 is the example on our demo site.
Do we have to use the lessons?
No. The guided lessons are optional and sit beside the chat if you want them.
Who makes Ask Mark?
Ask Mark is built and maintained by Tony and Christine Arcus (Access Information / ai.net.nz), with YWAM use in mind.

This is our aiGuide.
Welcome to AI
Ask Mark is our implementation of Grok on the Website.
We put this together ourselves. Grok gave us a hand and even chucked in a few good ideas, but we’re the ones looking after it and keeping it on track.

What I think of AI.
Why Starlink?
Why Starlink?
Or, why is space so important?
War, famine, pestilence, and natural disasters kept the world population down; these problems kept people focused on survival, so much time and effort was just put into having enough food. And if you had enough food, defending it, and if you did not you would ‘other’ your neighbour so you could war with them and steal their food. (And women.)
So, progress was slow.
AI: a massive auto-correction machine
I’ve said that an AI is just a massive auto-correction machine, or a next-probable-word projector.
Well, it’s worse than that.
Depending upon the applications of the questions, from raw maths to coding, from historical information to theoretical ideas, on to social analysis, and then diagnosis and opinion interpretation, AI becomes less about the underlying information and more about pleasing the questioner.
Is AI a Thinking Machine?
If you lower your definition of thinking, then maybe an AI thinks.
What an AI does is deeply predict what the next word in the answer will be.
This prediction creates the appearance of thinking, knowledge, and even understanding, but it is just an unbelievable amount of information synthesised into a matrix of connections to predict the next best word.
